Women's XC Camp
Three of our local women, XC pilots and CFIGs, hold a Camp every year in early July to teach women glider pilots how to “cut the apron strings” and leave their local airport. This is designed for women who have about two years experience thermalling close to their home airport and haven’t yet flown away from the local area.
The Camp is five days of concentrated study and flying tasks of increasing difficulty based on each pilot’s individual progress. Each morning class includes four hours of focused presentations with take-home study material. Each afternoon soaring tasks are flown when the weather permits, which is usually most days. There is more information and participant reviews on the website, www.xcwomen.org. Or, contact them directly at info@xcwomen.org.
